There is no such thing as a "worst" Final Fantasy. All of them have their own good sides and bad sides. It all comes down to what the player thinks and even if he or she thinks it is the worst, it can never be a fact. If a majority were to think of one game to be the shittiest and worst of them all and another person thinks it is the best, can it be the worst? Of course not. It is nothing but opinions.
Like most people here said, Final Fantasy X-2 is the worst Final Fantasy ever. But I think otherwise.
To me, this game is one of the best games I have ever played in my whole entire life and I enjoyed it more than Final Fantasy VI through X. What is wrong with looking at things from a female's perspective? Does it always have to be a male main character? A female protagonist can also be a good thing because we (as male) get to learn about the other side of the spectrum. This is one of the many things I enjoyed when playing the game.
Despite the girlish theme, I am perfectly comfortable when playing the game. Unlike many, I am completely aware of my sexuality and is not afraid of playing a female-based game. I like the garment grid system a lot and you must know, behind those flashy transformation scenes (which you can filter out in the configuration menu), it is a very good system which can help you turn the tide of the battle in favor of you. It adds a lot of strategies in mid-battle that VI through IX does not. And think about this; you only have 3 characters, but those characters can change between the many jobs there are. Does that not mean that you have more than just 3 characters? At least that's how I think.
From VI to X along with Tactics, the stories have always been very serious and dark in a sense. With X-2 there comes light. The story in X-2, while it can be very serious, is very light-hearted and it gives the game its own stylish flair that separates it from the others. I am always in a good mood when playing this game because I enjoyed the light-hearted-ness a lot. There aren't many times that I smiled a lot through a game.
Then there is the battle system, as one person said before which I concur whole-heartedly, is ATB (active time battle) at its prime. Looking away from the lady trio and the girlish styles, the battle system is very active and fun. The ATB system in X-2 is what I think is the true ATB system. It is highly active and when you're not careful, you can easily get defeated by the computer which has nearly happened to me before. And when I emerge from a difficult battle victorious, the sense of satisfaction is very high. I found the battles so fun that I didn't even felt any hatred and annoyance toward the random battles. That's how fun it was for me.
And yes, I don't care what people say about me. I love Final Fantasy X-2 and I am proud to say so.
Anyway, as for what I think is worst, there isn't any. I find that VI through X are all enjoyble and I liked them a lot. I also played a bit of I and I thought it was very challenging. II is also very challenging but I didn't have much interest in it. Never tried III so I couldn't comment on it. Played IV for a bit but didn't got far into it so not many thoughts on it. V is what I find to be the least enjoyable. I don't know why since I love the job system of Tactics, X-2, and XI, but I couldn't find much interest in V to play more when I tried it. But yeah, if I were to pick a Final Fantasy that I am least interested in, it would be V.
