...introduction of the job system, anyone? A lot of people seem to think that just because it was on the NES, it just can't live up to the FF name. Those are the same people who seem to forget that the FF series premiered with FFI on the NES.
You might be wondering why FFII wasn't my choice instead, right? Well, that's simple. FFII isn't underrated... it's almost an entirely separate game, and it doesn't have any sort of a following, simply because it's not as good. It also lacked a story, and the gameplay was completely upsidedown compared to what people would expect from the series. That said, let's get back to the point.FFIII was easily the best of the NES titles, but a lot of people just can't see that. It had a story that was actually worth playing for, it had an excellent job system, it had a decent level of difficulty (which might actually be why it's underrated), and it was enjoyable. Quite enjoyable, if you ask me. In fact, ask anyone who's played it completely through. Just about anyone would say the same.
Of course, I'm not entirely blind to the truth. FFIII was technically never released internationally, so it really hasn't even had its chance to be "underrated" yet. Many, many people have played translated ROMs, but only people in Japan (and anyone with an imported copy) have truly experienced the game. Still, it was underrated even there... it might have been because of the timing. Nintendo's SNES was right around the corner. People needed to save their money, you know.
